Host an Exchange Student!

As most have you know by now, we enjoy hosting exchange students, they add a broader dimension to our life. Our current one; Vinnie is from Brazil is great fun and has taken to riding as well, some of you might have seen him at the barn. Next year, at the start of the school year, we hope to host an Italian girl named Laura ( not a very Italian name, I know) who apparently is an avid rider.
The local exchange representative is Cheryl Stanley who I have known for over 10 years now ( we officially started with Josef in 2009!)  She has asked me to post this application of a student she feels might really fit in with one of our riding families. See below:
Camilla is a 16-year-old girl from Brazil. “I am friendly, nice and I love laughing. I would like to spend my free time playing sports and doing volunteer work with animals because I
love sports and animals. I would like to join a volleyball and swim team. I love the beach, the horses and I really love music (even if I do not
know how to play anything, it is a wish). I love nature and the ocean ( I already dived a few times). I would love if I had a sister or a
brother my age in my host family. I am not an only child but the age difference is too big and we don’t live together”.

Host parents are volunteers who must be at least 25 years old, and able to provide the following:
  • A welcoming home for one or two high school semesters
  • Family support
  • A bedroom and a bed (students can share rooms with children of the same gender within four years of his/her age)
  • An appropriate place to study
  • Meals at home and school
  • Assistance coordinating appropriate transportation
