We welcome Max Guzinski; my son who has taken on the position of Co-Barn Manger for us. Max graduated from the Honors program of Virginia Tech, majoring in Industrial Engineering. Right out of school he got a job with a Global company – ABB where he took on many different roles as they moved him around the country before settling him in Milwaukee, WI. He was with them a bit over 4 years before deciding that home is where he wanted and needed to be. There is a lot to be said for our Carolina blue skies!
Having grown up on the farm has helped him slip right into the position- organizing the office, staying on top of the young horse handling, keeping the barn tidy, keeping up with all the grain, hay, epm and medical supplies, operating the laser and pulse machine , shipping horses, helping me with the new projects, and helping Brian and the guys with all that goes into making this farm run more efficiently.
Steph Chong will be the other half of the “Co-manager” joining us from Maryland at the end of the month to help Max with the Barn Manger position. She first went to Montgomery Community College to for Automotive Technology before going to Otterbein University to study Equine Business management.
Steph brings experience from her ‘real job” of mechanic and customer service work in the Automotive industry in Maryland, as well as her “dream jobs” – working in local barns with young horses, off the track thoroughbreds, dressage, jumpers, and eventers.
She will be helping Caroline with the riding, working with our young horses, doing the vet prescribed after care as well as taking on the beginner lessons during the week and organizing and running our Grassroots Horse Show Series and Summer Camp Program.
Steph will be moving to Cedarhill at the end of August and will be bringing Mac, her young two year old gelding. Residing in the studio apartment that presently is the parent lounge, she easily will be able to stay on top of all that is needed.
Max and Steph will be ensuring that our horses are well taken care of, and between the two of them will catch those details that easily fall through the cracks. The saying goes “ It takes a village” and we are so very happy to welcome these two newest members to our Cedarhill Village!
