Cedarhill values involved riders. A connection is created when the rider is involved in the well being of their horse or pony which serves the team well when they are in the riding ring. Grooming, hand grazing, and hand walking give our riders the opportunity to learn more about the idiosyncrasies that their horse has, no two horses are the same!
That being said, we appreciate the trust our riders and families have with us as we better serve your horse with vet and farrier services.
Let us (Cedarhill staff- Caroline, Andrea or Steph) know if you see or feel something that seems out of the ordinary with your day to day riding and handling and we will consult with Matt, our farrier or Dr Travis, our vet for the best course of action. When Matt and Travis arrive at Cedarhill they typically have a busy schedule taking care of our horses and as much as they would like to spend time with individual horse owners going over their particular horse this cuts into the time they have with the rest of our horses they are treating, or the next farm they are heading to that day. As much as they would like to educate owners, there isn’t time to do that and actually treat horses.
We can help with this, and be the go between for our vets, farriers and our riders/owners to keep everything running smoothly. Occasionally the day does get away from us and lessons start as soon as Dr Travis leaves so we can’t pass on findings until that evening, or the following day. We will never mind a quick reminder text for us to get back to you if that happens.
It takes a village to keep our horses and their riders at their best, even with as involved riders as we have at Cedarhill!
