Winter is Coming… Blankets Needed

We will be starting our day turnout shortly, the horses will then stay in at night. Please bring their blankets back to the barn if you have been storing them at home. Horses that are clipped will need a Turnout sheet and two turnout blankets. We prefer the Horseware Brand with Rambo being the best value. Make sure that they are well labeled with your horse’ s name on it. Ideally our show horses should have a separate set of blankets (2)  and a sheet(1) that remains clean and used only on the road. For stable blankets and sheets we prefer Triple Crown which can be custom ordered from the Camden Tack Room in our hunter green and burgundy trim with white or gold piping.

To hang your blanket on their rack in front of their stall:

Step 1) Fold the blanket lengthwise like a hot dog.

Step 2) Now fold the blanket in half like a hamburger

Step 3) Pull the blanket from the back over the rack with the neat straight edge of the blanket in the front.

Step 4) Stuff all the straps and messy ends underneath and towards the back.

The blanket should look neat and tidy folded like a rectangle on the rack. Hang the sheet last since it will get used first. We have a blanket chart advising all on what layer to put on depending on the weather. Fuzzy horses are treated like they already have at least one layer on already.

Joaquin Beltran will be here to body clip whoever would like to be done next Tuesday. Leave a check for $150 for him on the bulletin board. Please have your horse’s blankets out before you get them clipped. The nights are already dipping down into the 40’s.
