Not Fade Away- Charlotte Tent City Benefit

Our Cedarhill  IEA came together last weekend and ran a successful car wash and horseless horse show (people jumping competition) bringing in $1045. Cedarhill Farm is matching whatever the IEA Team brings in to make their dollars go farther in benefiting this ongoing crisis; homelessness. It is our Cedarhill IEA Team’s wish to do this sort of benefit monthly or quarterly… as time permits.

I first discovered Nic White, a UNCC music student whose organization ” Not Fade Away” was featured in the Charlotte Agenda, a daily news email. I reached out to him; he was helping people like myself who want to help but whose schedule won’t allow. I drop shipped right before the Blowing Rock show literally a laundry list of items on his doorstep which he and his organization distributed over the following weeks; chapstick, sunscreen, ant repellant, tarps, shoe insoles, batteries, backpacks, sun hats, socks, underwear, feminine products, baby wipes… the list goes on.   After Blowing Rock through Amazon I did another order as I discussed with him how to get our team involved.

This weekend with over $2000 our IEA Team, headed up by Taylor and Sarah Hattaway will be purchasing items most recommended on Nic’s list. They then will meet with Nic and first hand be there to help with the distribution of these helpful items. We will report back as to how the day went. It is my hope that with this small act of kindness we can make a difference to those in need; those houseless, living in tents on the outskirts of the city.
