We have electrolytes for all the horses that is put in their feed whenever the temperature is over 90 degrees, in addition to mineral salt blocks in all their stalls and paddocks. In addition to this, we are encouraging everyone who rides in this extreme heat to offer their mount a scoop of Aqua-aid electrolytes mixed in a half bucket of water after any and all vigorous rides. These electrolytes help replenish lost fluids and help cool your horse (or pony). Most of our horses stick their noses up at this new drink but hopefully with continued exposure they will figure out that they should drink it! Our resident horse, Junior suffering from anhidrosis has figured it out, and really slurps it down!
